I am looking at Fairy tales and hidden meanings. My aim is to capture through metaphor and symbolism the transitions from innocence to awareness. Making small sculptures, collages, drawings, animations and paintings that are playful and remind one of childhood whilst at the same time they are also grotesque with sexual undertones that comment on womanhood and sexual awakening. I used colours, materials and stitches that equate to a connection with human skin and organs (tights, latex, nails, rubber, spices and threads among others). I want to aim to transfer all of the curiosity, frustration and chaos into a painting in such a way that all of the research, time and effort disappears into the work. The boundaries of a painting excite me – canvas and paint.
